AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON - One Thing I Would Change

If "Avengers: Age of Ultron" had handled the major “extinction event” plot point exactly as suggested here, its climax could have had some heavy-duty dramatic impact. While simultaneously rescuing a large and uncountable number of generic Sokovian citizens, the Avengers must also, for a nonspecific amount of time, keep a large and uncountable number of Ultrons, from physically turning some sort of super-high-tech (but not computerized, or any any way remote control operated?) control knob, as the floating Sokovian landmass rises at an unclear rate, to a nonspecific height - for if it falls from that height, we are told the Earth will be doomed, assuming it impacts the Earth without being stopped in time - or at least broken into somewhat less-giant pieces.
