The Danish Girl
“The Danish Girl” is a fictitious love story inspired by real-life Danish artists and couple Einar Wegener/Lili Elbe (Eddie Redmayne) and Gerda Wegener (Alicia Vikander) whose marriage and work evolve as they navigate Lili's groundbreaking journey to undergo gender reassignment surgery in 1920s Europe. The film, directed by Tom Hooper, is loosely based on the novel by David Ebershoff of the same name, which is a fictionalized account of Einar/Lili's and Gerda's relationship.
